St. Marys Church Dennington Bench End 1

St. Mary’s Church would be worth visiting just to view the fascinating array of carved mediaeval benches. Most date to the 15th century, and include representations of a tortoise, angel, mermaid, two-headed eagle, hounds, and one which is thought to be a giraffe but, if so, the carver maybe didn’t quite believe the neck was strong enough to support its head!
