"Cloud Gate"

Newer Older

After yesterday's self-portrait of me reflected in "Cloud Gate" in Chicago's Millenium Park, I went into my archives and found this shot I did last year of the sculpture. This provides a much stronger sense of just what an awe-inspiring achievement this piece of public art really is. (And from this angle, as some people have commented, it does indeed look like a giant, reflective Easter egg.)

That face in the bottom right of the photo is part of two glass towers that show huge moving faces on either end of Crown Fountain.

As I said before, "The Bean" (as Cloud Gate is popularly known) is one of my favorite places.

Simply wonderful! A stunning shot of this amazing object in its own right, but your processing really gives it that bizaare and unusual feel. The strong contrasts are superb. Grand job.

I am hoping that the comment
    by gigiboy was merely
a misspelling of Barack Obama's name,
and not some sort of negative
    insult on my President.
Flickr is not the place for hateful
remarks - at least that's what I thought.

The halo around the bean and the buildings off Michigan is distracting. The colors are into the surreal range. Is this an HDR shot?
