• Little Bittern hiding away

A Pygmy Cormorant, A Little Egret and A Little Bittern

Newer Older

A Pygmy Cormorant Phalacrocorax pygmeus, a Little Egret Egretta garzetta and a juvinille Little Bittern Ixobrychus minutus, which I was lucky enough to see at the lake "Kis Balaton" close to Lake Balaton in Hungary.
If anybody is thinking of visiting Hungary or just wants to maximise their chances of seeing more European bird species, then you can't get better than going to Hungary! I thoroughly recommend a visit there, especially as it's the country with the most species of European birds at around 80% of the continents bird population!

    Happy Feathery Friday!

Welcome back! Can't wait to see more of your pics.

P.S. Those bitterns are hard to see. I've never seen one yet.

I agree about Hungary. This year I've been to Hungary, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia & Herzegovina, partly Croatia and Albania - Hungary was by far the best for bird photos. Next year I'm coming back.
