Power & Pollution

43060 brings up the rear of a northbound service as it passes a southbound Intercity 125 set in the shadow of Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station.

Both the power station, which is coal-fired, and the diesel-fuelled trains on the Midland Main Line are contributing to atmospheric pollution. The railway should really be electrified, shame on the government for cancelling the project.
