Evie's munki munki quilt

Newer Older

I've finally finished Evie's munki munki quilt. I am really pleased with it, except for the fact that I tumble dried it and i think it is too scrumpled up now. I also don't like the back as it is too busy, i wish I had done a solid colour with a few little details rather than crazy fabric everywhere! Love the front though.

Front and back inspired by Film in the Fridge quilts of course.

LOVE it!! So, how do you do the thin white borders? Do you paper piece the blocks? Is there a tutorial?

I know I could get lynched for saying this but I'm not a Heather Ross fan. That being said I love the colors you've picked and the simplicity of it. Its a really stunning quilt.

    Thanks everyone!!

Cottoncandiefabric- there are heaps of fabrics that people rave about that I just don't *get*. It's ok to not like heather ross stuff, but I am of course glad to hear you like this quilt!!!

Joomoolynn- not tutorial, no paper piecing. I started with strips of white fabric measuring about 1 1/4 inches and once I'd formed the border i trimmed it back leaving 3/4 of an inch that was nice and square. Once the next round of fabric was sewn on it became a 1/2 inch white border. Does that make sense?

I love it! It's like a book with the pages all next to each other. A treasure!!
