Middle McCloud Falls

As the McCloud River winds through the Mount Shasta region, it cascades over three separate but closely-clustered falls: the aptly-named Lower, Middle, and Upper McCloud Falls. The middle tier, pictured here, is the most dramatic of the three, with the added benefits of being less crowded than the lower tier, but more accessible to swimmers and waders than the upper tier.

The beautiful views and icy water made the hundred degree day of our visit ALMOST bearable.
