Oso, Survivor of 3 coyote attacks!
We met Oso at the park yesterday on our walk. He's 13 and full of attitude and spunk, so much so that Benni kept trying to stay out of reach. Oso really did survive 3 coyote attacks.
The first was when he and our Wheaten, Tucker, were puppies.
Oso's family lives backing up to the park and one evening, almost dark, a coyote came right up to Norma and Oso and grabbed Oso, who was still on leash. Norma, all 5' 1" of her, grabbed the coyote and pried Oso out of the coyote's mouth.
The second time Oso, who was sitting out by the garage where his owner was working, saw a coyote go by and chased it down the street, barking his head off. The coyote whirled and grabbed him but let go when Oso's dad yelled and ran at him.
Third time was similar; Oso out front, grabbed around the middle by a passing coyote, but not a good grip so Oso slipped away and ran into the house. He would attack again if he saw another coyote - he thinks he's much bigger than he is. He's a Yorkie mix, weighs about 8 lbs.
