• This light makes it look like I took the picture in the early evening, but I didn't. My camera just sucks and doesn't know what light is or what to do with it.

Wall mounted bike racks at Damen Brown Line

Newer Older

Someone who boards the L at this station told me that he feels he has to compete with other bicyclists to use these bike racks.

The CTA installed wall mounted bike racks at the reconstructed Damen Brown Line station. Wall mounted bike racks are not new to the CTA - the walls at Skokie Yellow Line are adorned with wall mounted bike racks.

This in addition to a surface mounted bike rack on the south side of the station.

Tip: Always install an equal amount of surface-mounted bike parking alongside vertical or multiple-tier bike parking; not everyone is capable of lifting their bike vertically.

I was surveying this station in order to install additional bike parking; three new bike racks will be installed in 2009 by CDOT.

I don't like hanging my bike by the wheel.

The weight of your body on your bike, plus dynamic load while riding, applies more force on the wheels than the bike does by itself hanging from its wheel.

But I'm no engineer, I'm just half chinese

Why don't you like hanging your bike by the wheel?

I don't want to scratch the rim.

Many vertically-mounted bike racks have rubber or plastic coated arms to protect your rims.
