Downhill Estate, Northern Ireland

Downhill Estate was built in the 18th Century by the somewhat eccentric Earl Bishop Hervey, who served as the Bishop of Londonderry. Evidently it was used by American forces during the second world war, after which it fell into disrepair. The estate has spectacular views of Donegal, the sea, and the Northern Irish coast.

The Downhill national trust site is here.
