La plaça cremada / A burnt square

La Plaça de Sant Pere de Berga. Tan petita i alhora tan gran.

===================================================================

This small and hightly irregular square in the old quarter of Berga, Catalonia is a very special one. It's the unique scenario for the Patum de Berga, a centuries old celebration, now part of the UNESCO Intangible Heritage of Humanity. You wouldn't find anything similar elsewhere in the World. It's a medieval festival, full of music, fire and people. Words fail me here, as it's so difficult for a true fan, a "patumaire", like me, to describe it. Better you could judge by yourselves. Here's a video of the same square during the most impressive part of La Patum, the Salt de Plens:

Other impressive parts of the celbrations, like L'Aliga (The Eagle) [pas to the 03:45 seconds]:

And finally, the end of all, the Tirabols:

As you can see, all, ALL this crowd its inside this quite tiny square!
