Leyburn Market Place old postcard, late 1970s

Even if the patchy red saloon was the only car visible I would still have bought this card - it's a Datsun 1300 or 1600 (on a 1968-69 G-reg?). Widely known elsewhere in the world as the 510, it was an early model for Datsun here in the UK and sales were limited - maybe 3,500 total? Interesting to compare it with the Cortina Mk2 nearby, it's obvious competitor.

There's also a Datsun Cherry hatchback just visible to the left of the maroon Marina estate, plus a 120Y.

I would say the most notable of the others are the Renault 20/30, Bedford CA fish and chip van and the green Lada, maybe a 1600 ES?

The Castrol sign is visible again, outside what we now know was a garage.

Unsent card published by Colourmaster International printed by photo Precision Ltd, ref. PLX20059.

Edit: Having looked on Streetview I've just noticed that Norman F. Brown are still there. They look to be an independent firm of estate agents and surveyors with three local offices, established in 1967. Good to see one of the small companies survive the buyout days of the late 1980s.
