Balthazar

Balthazar, Spring Street. A great place to spend an evening with friends - the food is spectacular, the wine list extensive and reasonably priced, and the atmosphere - well to me they've pretty much nailed it. Dinner at 8 pm on Saturday night was enough to twist my arm (biting sarcasm here) to come out...

This was what was left of the Cote de Boeuf - a large rib steak on the bone, for two. Generously seasoned with salt and pepper, seared to give it a great crust, and then roasted until medium/medium rare. It was presented to us in the dining room before it was plated and brought back out. Sorry everybody, for the 45 minute wait for this, but we had plenty of fare to to keep us gastronomically occupied before our main course came out - roasted pumkin ravioli, steak tartare, seafood cerviche, pumpkin soup... I split this with Brian, and man were we full after this. Served with carrots, haricot verts, parsnips, and pearl onions.
