NZIA Awards Entry Image #1
So over the last couple of months I have been taking photographs of buildings in the Hawke's Bay region to form part of the entry of these building into the NZIA - Gisborne/Hawkes Bay Branch Local Architecture Awards.
And now that the entries have been submitted I thought I would share, over the next couple of weeks, some of my favourite images from those buildings.
First up is the last image I shot for all of the entries. This unusual and innovative Science Block building at Taradale High School was designed by Studio 26 Architects Ltd, and whilst they already had some existing photos of the building they engaged me to produce a "hero" shot of the building to put in as part of the awards entry.
So on the morning before entries were due I found myself standing in the school grounds at 5:30am, having dragged the caretaker out of his warm bed to unlock the building for me and turn off the alarms. But as soon as I started to see the predawn colour in the clouds I knew I would get the shot I needed.
