Interior of the Dom Bosc Sanctuary, Brasilia..... lit with natural light filtered through a million small square vitral stained glass blue windows.......and 2 panels of pink toned windows in each of the 4 corners of the sanctuary. Dom Bosc. A priest, who became a saint, in Turin, Italy, believed to be a visionary, had a dream in 1883 of a utopian city on the 15th parallel of a great nation that would give birth to a new civilization where all people were ruled justly. Brazilians took Bosc's dream into their hearts as their own. The 1891 Constitution determined there would be a new federal capital, inspired by Bosc's prophesy, built within the interior. But in almost 150 years of debate the plan never moved forward. Until 1955 when President Juscelino Kubitscheck (JK) made the new city's reality a promise of his term of office & less than 4 years later, and on the backs of many hundreds of thousands of poor peasants, the new federal capital Brasilia was born, on a high plateau in the central west. Bosc, the inspiration for the new city, is revered here & and his crucial role in Brasilia's conception is told in the beautiful sanctuary built , exactly on the 15th parallel, in his honour.
