Art Deco Glass Panels, RMS Queen Mary
This set of glass panels is in the Windsor Salon on the Queen Mary. The port and starboard walls each featured a pair of these panels. I took four photos, cropped and reassembled them into this collage so that they could be viewed together.
I can't help but think that these panels depict a story or legend. Unfortunately, I could not find a plaque explaining them or acknowledging the artist. The styling seems to influenced by ancient Greek drawings with other elements blended in, including some distinct art deco motifs.
I cannot say if these are original to the ship. It would be amazing to think that something as fragile as art glass panels like these survived three-quarters of a century on a working passenger ship/troop transport/tourist attraction and hotel.
