Hot Core Temp

This is a pic of the superb freeware tool Core Temp and AMDs Power Monitor. They show the CPU temp of my Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo A1630 laptop (Uniwill 258KA0) sat on a desk (not my lap!) running a bit level virus scan with Zone Alarm Security Suite (oh, and a few other programs including a clock). I've found the CPU shutsdown (laptop freezes) at 81degsC but once caught it in the 90s. After taking the above capture, I switched the power profile from AMDs Cool'n'Quiet 3 step affair to a 6 step one I created with the excellent free Right Mark CPU Clock Utility. This alternative profile undervolts the CPU and limits its max speed to 2000MHz to keep the temp below 60degsC. (With the 7th 2200MHz step enabled it outstrips Opterons on SiS Sandra Efficiency/Performance test.) When I get round to it I'll have to open my laptop and clean out dust from the cooling system and maybe reseat the CPU with arctic silver.
