UK Journal Day 32 (Travel Diary Day 70)

A world without mosquitoes – that’s what I dreamed of when I was in Indonesia. They are not the nicest creatures. I’d manage around 6 confirmed kills a day in Yogyakarta. It’s the little buzz in the ear that gets to me.

You can image my frustration at hearing that haunting sound last night as I slowly drifted off to sleep. I thought I’d mis-heard. There are no mosquitoes in England. Until I’d left these shores I had no idea what they even looked like.

But sure enough, when I turned my lights on, there they were (notice the use of the plural). 2 massive bloods suckers weighing up their nightly feast. I took one down with a punch to the head. There was no blood, that’s a good sign.

I threw a book at the other, more crafty, winged-beast. I wasn’t able to confirm the kill. It could still be out there.

What on earth are mosquitoes doing in Newcastle!?

Today’s Photo – the church in black and white

We return to the Park Methodist church, this time in monochrome.
