UK Journal Day 26 (Travel Diary Day 64)
(travel blog - strange-lands.com/daily/2012/09/17/london-eye/)
Apart from almost being beaten up by a lunatic, I really enjoyed yesterday’s photowalk in London. There was a wonderful mix of people from various countries. It was also nice to finally meet people who I interact with regularly in the cyber world.
I didn’t take half as many photos as I should have. I was too busy chatting. It’s not every day that you’re su
rrounded by HDR enthusiasts.
I encountered the lunatic when the sun had firmly set and we were walking down the street. As I passed him on the street he shouted ‘Move along!’ and shoved me. I pushed his hand off and turned around. The guy was bearing down on me. I did what any sensible person would do in that situation and shielded my camera and tripod, which I was carrying, from the oncoming mental.
Fortunately he decided not to hit me. He shoved me into a few others, and before I knew it, Conor, A.K.A The Fella, who incidentally is a top-notch HDR photographer (TheFella Photography)and martial arts trainer, was on the guy. He quickly backed down. I’d like to say I had the situation under control but my only thought was ‘don’t break my camera and give me a black eye for my wedding’. I owe Conor a pint next time I see him.
More importantly, it didn’t spoil the evening.
Many thanks to those who came, and I’m looking forward to the next one.
Today’s Photo – the London eye
It’s not easy getting a straight-on shot of the London eye without obstacles. Next time I’ll have to climb over the railings and onto the stairs you see on the left.
