Pantages Theatre, original 12-story plan
Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument No. 193, the Pantages Theatre was designed by B. Marcus Priteca (exterior) and Anthony Heinsbergen (interior) for Alexander Pantages. It opened on Hollywood Boulevard on June 4, 1930.
This is an artist's rendering form the Los Angeles Times on January 3, 1930, showing the original intention of having the building twelve stories high. The stock market crash that October scaled back the building to just two stories.
