Father and son surf lesson in Morro Bay, CA 11 of 12

Father and son surf lesson in Morro Bay, CA. Father is Ben Monmonier, son is Julian Boqha Monmonier. I like this wholesome family-oriented series of 12 images of a father and his son bonding during a surf lesson. They had a great time, and the little grom Julian took the new surf name Boqha to commemorate this step in his life. Boqha has great form and is a natural. Watch for future commercial endorsements for this athlete. The father gave me permission to photograph their entire surf lesson today 21 Dec 2007 Friday 21dec2007 - Photo by Mike Baird, Canon 40D with 300mm f/2.8 IS lens handheld

BTY,the term "grom" is used in a very affectionate way to refer to a young capable surfer with talent us older guys will never match. :>)

Creative Commons: This image is the main/only image on the Wikipedia "Grom" "Grommet" definition page. Wiki says in part ""Grommet" ("grom") is a term used to describe a young participant in extreme sports. The term originally was used in the sport of surfing for anyone under the age of 16. However in recent years, the term has been expanded to include other extreme sports, most notably skateboarding and snowboarding... first became popular in the 1970s as part of Australian slang. It was based on the word "Gremmie", which was used in the United States in the 1940s and 1950s, which was derived from the word "Gremlin"... The word was originally a derogatory term for an inexperienced surfer, but has become an accepted term for all young participants. For example, the British Surfing Association offers a Grommet Surf Club for young surfers."

Hi, I just wanted to tell you that this picture:

is being used cropped in a newspaper here in norway. I have never gotten around to read all the stuff about creative commons, but I didnt think it allowed commercial use of images.

This is one of the countrys three largest papers. Link to article:
