Gondwana Rainforests, Bellinger Valley, N.S.W.
Point Lookout lies within the New England National Park and overlooks the Bellinger Valley to the Pacific Ocean approximately 150km to the east. There are few places where you can catch a sunrise over the ocean from 1500m+ above sea level, and on this morning I happened to chance upon just the right amount of cloud. The Eucalpyts in the fore-ground form part of a suite of vegetation communities that are remnant of an ancient forest system which dates to a time when Australia was part of Gondwana Land. The ruggedness was awe-inspiring in a different way to the deserts I am used to.
