20120605_37 The big waterfall, looking like gossamer | Plitvice Lakes National Park, Croatia
According to a sign, the biggest waterfall in Croatia - the height is 78 meters.
Anyway... Waterfalls schmaterfalls... They're all right I guess ;B but what REALLY made me text home incoherently about Plitvice were THE LAKES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OH MY FSM. Them, and a load of extremely pretty damselflies and adorable dice snakes. OMG OMG.
(Swimming was not allowed, btw.........)
The park is a couple of hours by bus from Zagreb, whose bus station is down the street from the train station. I had read (on... THE INTERNETS!) that the bus station was a safe place to spend a night, so I did. :) And no one bothered me. Chairs were uncomfy though.
When I got to Plitvice, I was going to look for a possibly-existing hostel or a rental room in the nearest village. But as soon as I arrived, I happened to hear from another tourist that at least one of the park hotels (Hotel Bellevue) was WAY cheaper than I had imagined, so I stayed there three nights. OH THE BACKPACKERLUXURY. :D
Here's what the hell happened when I ALMOST visited Plitvice in 2011... :p
