April's secret challenge (5)
I walk on my toes. I always have done. The only way I can walk "normally" (heel- toe) is if I'm wearing shoes - and I prefer to be in socks or barefoot. Otherwise it's up on my toes with a good centimetre or so of air below my heel. I didn't think it was an issue or that unusual until other people started pointing it out in my twenties.
I think it stems from thundering about on bare floorboards as a young child of about 3 and being told "shh, Daddy's doing his homework". Obviously to my 3 year old brain the way to walk quietly was to go on tip-toes. As it was my Dad was at the start of an OU dgree course so had a lot of homework to do over the course of several years, so I perfected near silent walking very well - which has occassionally proved usefu for sneaking away from the children once they've fallen asleep.
My socks are pretty boring today, so I've used a shot of the youngest's feet instead - if only I could get a set of these socks in my size.
Playgroup this morning with lots of bouncing from the children and some good chat with the other Mums - it's nice to get back into normal weeks after the holidays.
