Pasta and Sauce

Made my old pasta and sauce thing today.. Basically, mini penne noodles and the sauce I usually make.

 

28oz can crushed tomatoes (tomato sauce will do)

1 or 2 peeled and diced tomatoes (a 15oz can of diced will do)

1 pound ground beef (80/20, not too lean)

Jalapeno

Garlic (3 or 4 cloves, minced)

Onion (1/2 large, minced)

Salt (a little)

Pepper (a little)

Sugar (a little, or none, depends how acidic your tomatoes are)

Oregano

Basil

 

Sweat the onion, jalapeno and garlic in some olive oil on low, then add to the tomato sauce and diced tomatoes in the crock pot (started on high the first hour). Add in the Oregano and Basil, then browned meat. Simmer on low for hours (I probably did 5-6 hours on this batch).

 

Boil the mini penne pasta for 9 or 10 minutes, drain well, and add to the mix. Stir it up and turn the crock pot off to cool and set some. Then eat some and put the rest in plastic containers to nuke for lunch and dinner the next couple of days.. Woo? :)
