Tufa formation in Mono Lake (IMG_9182a)
I took this photo in late afternoon on the south shore of Mono Lake, California in October 2008. I visited the South Tufa Reserve but didn't have a chance to visit the rest of the lake. The tufa formations are made up of calcium and look pretty out-of-this-world. The Reserve was swarming with photographers and flies - I just hope my photos are half as good as theirs!
