You can see a sliver of the Colorado River here
We stopped at the South Rim of the Grand Canyon National Park as part of Heather's sampler tour of the American Southwest. I've been to the South Rim several times with mixed feelings - great scenery but way too crowded to enjoy any solitude. This time was different - it was a lovely, chilly day in mid-March and we pretty much had the Park to ourselves - that was a nice feeling. We started from Desert View in the east and worked our way to Visitor Center, stopping at several viewpoints. I don't know the names of any of the formations, so if you know what that are, please let me know.
I took these photos in March 2014.
