Great use of oats

Stockholm, Sweden.

One of my shots from the pastry counter at a Stockholm grocery store.

These have several names. They used to have a politically incorrect (offensive) name and many Swedes still know them by that name. Now they are called havreboll (or havrebollar plural) or chokladbollar. "Havre" means oats and in this case it's oat powder.

I think the recipe is this:

Mix 7 tablespoons of butter, one half cup of sugar, 1.5 teaspoons of vanilla extract together until light and fluffy. Then add 2 or 3 tablespoons of sifted cocoa, 1.25 cups of rolled ground oats, and 2 or 3 tablespoons of strong coffee. Mix well. Roll into balls. You may then roll the balls in sugar or coconut. Refrigerate. Notice that there's no cooking.

Note: 7 tablespoons is 100 grams.

0.5 cups is 1 dl.

1.25 cups is 3 dl.
