Rhagonycha fulva-Soldier Beetle

A rather painful experience. This little fella was happy resting on the edge of some nettle leaves. So equipped with close up gear I waded into the undergrowth, so absorbed in his beauty I failed to notice just how dense this undergrowth was with nettles! Stung every where from the waist down, there was a few loud expletives as certain parts got more stinging than they should! And of course, it took a few goes to get the shot.

Then you find your not alone in the woods, as you back out, turn round to see an attractive lady, walking the dog, grinning from ear to ear as you clutch your family jewels eager to stop the pain.

"Was it worth it then?" she asked

"Oh yes" I relpied, in a voice that would please any choir master!
