Gold medal in memory of John Stacpoole

    Newer Older

Shot above Coalcliff ocean pool, where we swim each winter Sunday morning.

Last Sunday I swam at the South Coast Winter Swimming Championships where we won the 6 x 50 metre over 40 years age relay. I started the relay for our team and Ron Masaar brought us home in a great swim to overtake the leading team who were 3 body lengths in front before he could dive in. We did this in memory of our great mate who died with a massive herat attack playing water polo only weeks before. A champion in every facet of his life, winner of 13 Australian Winter Swimming gold medals, the true and only love of his wife of 30 years, Debbie, and proud father of their 3 sons.
    Vale John Stacpoole.

This pic has just been picked up by a large IT company for use in their internal communications for a motivational campaign. The fee paid is going 100% to Deb, John's widow.
