2014 Beginner Farmer Symposium and Mixer
ACORN's 3rd Beginner Farmer Symposium and Mixer took place on August 18th, 2014 at Tweedie Hall (MTA Campus) in Sackville, NB. The day was a huge success, selling out and drawing over 160 new, aspiring and experience farmers from all over the Maritimes, and featured an excellent mix of regional and guest speakers, including Jean-Martin Fortier of Les Jardins de la Grelinette/The Market Gardener. Topics covered critical issues facing new farmers, such as Farm Investment; Business and Financial Planning; Production Skills and more. Visit www.growafarmer.ca/symposium/ for full details.

Yet again, the day also featured a bustling Trade Show; the Small Tools Show and Tell; Yoga and prime networking opportunities for new entrants to connect with the broader community of organic producers and supporters in Atlantic Canada.

All proceeds from the day's event will support the future of ACORN's farmer-training initiative: the Grow A Farmer Apprenticeship and Mentorship Programs–for full details visit www.growafarmer.ca

Thanks very much to the Government of New Brunswick, the Government of Prince Edward Island, Renaissance Sackville, Picaroons Brewery, Belliveau Orchards for their support of this event.
