Regulars gain the creek
My second group under Tustenaggee Haasi engages with the main force of Regulars under Capt Brakefield. The Seminole dummy blind off to their right caused them to move even more cautiously. Brakefield lived up his name in this operation.
Total casualties were all 12 of Isteechokolo's group and 2 more Seminoles from Asi Halpatter's men. The US lost 1 Regular and 10 Marines and 5 sailors.
Much as happened historically, the Seminoles lacked the manpower and ammo to hold off the government forces. After fierce fighting the Americans routed the Seminoles from the area, and those who were not captured disappeared in the cypress. It was a very bad defeat for the Seminoles in central Florida. A large number of cattle and a hundred horses were captured from the Seminoles, along with the loss of all their camp goods, clothing, blankets, and cooking pots. This was a devastating blow for them.
