India: Helping the displaced 2012
10/9/2012 - Caught in the cross-fire surrounding the Maoist insurgency, over 100,000 civilians have been displaced in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh since 2005. Many of the uprooted families now live in scattered settlements in the neighbouring state of Andhra Pradesh, where living conditions are poor, with limited hygiene and sanitation facilities.

The European Commission's Humanitarian Aid and Civil Protection Department (ECHO) supports displaced families living in over 180 settlements across Khammam district through its partners, Save the Children and Action Aid.
