27/05/2012 - Khorog, Pamir, Tajikistan : Tajikistan’s Pamir mountain ranges, with peaks reaching over 7,000 m, are particularly prone to natural disasters: earthquakes, floods, landslides , mud flows and avalanches. It is here that disaster preparedness is crucial to increasing the resilience of the population, as it has been done since 1996 by ECHO disaster risk reduction programme DIPECHO.
