Another one from Durdle Door Beach.
Good lens but a cheap camera so the colors were awful. Salvaged quite successfully with BandW.
I see lots of photos on Flickr that I think are great but I cant work out why. So Im on a mission to learn tangibly useful photo stuff that actually makes my pictures better. When I learn something simple that works Im going to share it. I think I put theory in to practice well here so here's the explanation:
Composition-wise my thinking here was rule of thirds again. But I read that putting focal points on crossing points between horizontal thirds and vertical thirds is a good thing to do. Hence the dog and owner are on such a 'hot spot'.
It was just a matter of waiting for the dog to do something interesting to bring the composition to life.
Also pleased with the contrating textures: Smooth grass, knobbly cliff face, raging sea.
