Self portrait – Got juice?
This is a composite image / photo illustration made from eleven exposures. Overall I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. I had to abandon some of my original plans for the image. It took way longer to manipulate than I thought it would and I really wish I would have shaved my arms or had a real bodybuilder to pose for this photo.
For the photos of myself I used a Minolta 4000af in a 3x2ft softbox to the rear left of the subject pointed at the subject at a 45 degree angle and a Yongnuo 560ii in a 3x2ft softbox to the rear right of the subject pointed at the subject at a 45 degree angle. I also used a yn 460 ii in a 9x9 inch softbox placed to the front right of the subject pointed at the subject at a 45 degree angle.
I shot the water against a black background. I used the same 3x2ft soft boxes and strobes to the rear of the spray pointed at the spray at a 45degree angle and placed the 9x9 inch soft box above the spray. I shot all the photos with an industar 50-2 attached to a pentax k-30.
I took all my photos into photoshop for manipulation and processing, which basically involved some masking, re-arranging pieces of my own body, drawing out some shapes. A pile of burning and dodging with curves adjustments, a couple of high pass filters and overlaying a few images.
