Patchwork chair: Full view

    Newer Older

This is a chair that's been in my husband's family for some time. It has a weird motif on its back, a crowned snake flanked by some tools — I thought the seat deserved some funk instead of the stodgy damask cover it used to have.

      I adore this!!!!!
Was it hard to do the upholstery bit?
Can you suggest any good tutorials?

Thanks! No, it wasn't hard at all; just took patience and a good staplegun. There's not much to it, although it ended up being fiddly because I wanted to make my lines as straight as possible. This tutorial had good pictures:

(I wish I'd done a better job on the corners, but I don't think there was any other way to tackle them since on this chair they're rounded.)
