Southern Tier Phin & Matts Extraordinary Ale
A glass of Phin & Matts Extraordinary Ale from Southern Tier Brewing Company in Lakewood, New York, on draft at BrewDog Edinburgh.
Phin & Matts Extraordinary Ale is a 5,7% abv American Pale Ale. It poured a clear, golden color with a white head. The aroma was surprisingly mild, hardly any hops at all. The mouthfeel was light, more like a lager than an ale. The flavor had a mild caramel sweetness, with hints of bitterness appearing after a while. Not much else going on, and for an instance the taste reminded me more of a herbal ice tea than a beer.
A weird beer, certainly no APA, but probably OK as a thirst quencher on a hot day (ref ice tea).
