Southern Tier Iniquity

A bottle of Iniquity from Southern Tier Brewing Company in Lakewood, New York, at Blind Tiger in New York City.

Iniquity is a 9% abv imperial black ale. It poured a Coca Cola deep brown color with a beige head. Wonderful aroma of caramel malts and American hops, almost like a barley wine. Medium heavy and smooth mouthfeel. Flavor started out malty sweet with notes of cocoa. The hops, when they arrived on the scene, never overpowered the dark malts but blended in nicely. The finish had a nice dry hopped bitterness to clean up the palate after the massive dose of malt. A very harmonic and delicious black ale, a favorite!
