Flight of beer at Pizzeria Paradiso

Ordering flights of beer is a great way of sampling a large number of beers without getting too drunk in the process. Here, Arne and I have ordered some tasters at Pizzeria Paradiso in Georgetown, Washington DC.

My three tasters in this round was from left to right: Flying Dog Wild Dog Schwarz, The Bruery Rugbrød and Stillwater American Saison. A few words about each:

* Stillwater American Saison was a 6,8% saison that poured a hazy yellow color. It had a nice fresh aroma of citrus and oranges. Taste was fresh too, almost lemon. A simple but refreshing summer ale.

* The Bruery Rugbrød is an 8,0% abv beer made with Danish rugbrød malt. It poured a clear golden brown color with a big white head. Sweet malty aroma. The taste was also very sweet and surprisingly short. No body! A boring beer.

* Flying Dog Wild Dog Schwarz is a 7,8% double schwarz beer. It poured tar black with a fine beige head. Powerful roasted aroma. Smooth creamy mouthfeel. Coffee roasted taste with some malt sweetness, and a bitter roasted finish. A tough but great beer.
