HeBrew Jewbelation Bar Mitzvah

A bottle of the He'Brew Jewbelation Bar Mitzvah Thirteenth Anniversary Ale brewed by the San Francisco based Shmaltz Brewing Company at Olde Saratoga Brewing in Saratoga Springs, New York, and enjoyed at the Brickskeller in Washington DC.

This is their thirteenth anniversary beer, and what a beer it is: Jewbelation Thirteen was brewed with 13 types of malt, 13 types of hops and is a hefty 13% abv (refer to their twelfth anniversary ale too). It poured a dark brown color with a thin beige head. Huge sweet aroma, with notes of raisins, caramel, brown sugar, licorice and piny hops. Some roasted malt too. Smooth, creamy mouthfeel. Taste starts out sweet, with chocolate, raisins and caramel. Then the hops kick in, wow! Massive! The rich sweetness is really well balanced by the massive amount of hops, creating a long bittersweet aftertaste. What a delicious beer! It reminds me a little of Nøgne Ø #100, but even richer. It's a world class beer!
