St Rieul Brune

A bottle of St Rieul Brune from Brasserie Saint Rieul in Trumilly, France, at home in Tønsberg.

This is a 7% abv Belgian Brown Ale. It poured a deep red brown color with a thick, fluffy, beige head. Aroma of roasted malt and some sweet caramel tones. Medium rich mouthfeel, with some sour notes. Flavors start out sweet, with caramel and chocolate, but like a Flanders Red it has some very interesting sour notes which makes the beer so much more balanced and enjoyable. Mild bitter aftertaste. A very good beer!
