Goose Island Pere Jacques
A bottle of Pere Jacques from Goose Island Beer Company in Chicago, Illinois, at the Oslo Øljunta tasting session at Lørenskog on June 13.
This beer, inspired by the Belgian strong ales - as brewmaster Greg Hall openly admits on the label - poured a light brown/amber color with a small white head. It had a delicious aroma, that is typical Belgian, with a sweet maltiness and a very distinct yeast character. Mouthfeel was also great, with a creamy texture. Flavor was bordering on too sweet but was balanced nicely by a roasted malt character and some hop bitterness. A very good beer!
The beer holds 9% abv so it really is a strong ale.
