The Peter Augustus Jay House (Rye, New York) during a rare October snowstorm—October 29, 2011. The storm brought down branches and trees on the Jay property. New York City received 2.9" (7.4 cm) of snow, its biggest October snowfall since October 26, 1859 when 4.0" (10.2 cm fell). In New York City's suburbs, this storm was the largest October snowfall on record. Scarsdale received 10.0" (25.4 cm), Mahopac was blanketed by 12.0" (30.5 cm), and Armonk picked up 12.5" (31.8 cm).
