Spider Pisaura mirabilis. Dunwich 10.12.2012 (2)

It was a joy to spend some time just watching this tiny nursery web spider basking on a bramble leave while protecting her egg sac.

Legs were spread to detect any vibration .

When she became aware of me she seemed to cuddle her eggs to her and tuck her abdomen around them in a most protective way.

Time was well spent just watching and it is only thanks to friends at WAB that I was able to get an accurate ID.
