120826 - 361 - Sunflower
This picture was taken for the Get Pushed group on Flickr: www.flickr.com/groups/getpushed/
This round I was set a challenge by D.Travis North who set me the following challenge: "I especially love your experiments with slow shutter - be it the camera tosses, orbs or blurred movement ("Crewe Station", "Travel Ted Enjoys The View From the Train" or "Runners"). But I'd like to challenge you to explore another aspect of slow-shutter photography: Panning or Zooming. I'd like to see you create a shot that features either the panning or zooming technique "
I had limited time to try something this week, but we had these sunflowers at home and they were an ideal subject to play with the zoom burst technique. I would have liked to have found something a bit more unusual to try this with but the flower is such a great subject for it.
The main image above was taken hand held and I quite liked the additional wobble/distortion in this in comparison to the first image in the comments below which was from a tripod. I also like the effect in the second image in the comments which was achieved by using the zoom burst technique but with a pause at the beginning and end of the zoom.
Thanks for the push Travis, I enjoyed playing with this technique, now need to apply it to something more creative than the flower.
