Peepal Tree at Sukhna Lake

The Sacred Fig (Ficus religiosa) is a species of banyan fig native to India. This tree can be easily recognised because of its its heart shaped leaves that have long narrowing tips.

 

In the Hindu religion, Peepal tree has a significance for people and the tree is worshipped. The Buddha rested under a Peepal tree during his travels and attained Enlightenment.
