Ferns and More Ferns
Cathedral Trail, Prairie Creek Redwoods, California
Some bright young ferns nestling in the trunk of a redwood tree as well as covering the forest floor. The tree itself was one of the few I saw with a lean in the lower trunk, gradually turning straight up as one expects from a redwood.
On a technical note, a polarizer is invaluable when photographing these lush forests in the spring. Although you lose light from the polarizer, the result is very much worth while. A couple of times I took the same photo with and without a polarizer and the results were dramatically in favor of using the polarizer.
