Meet Boris, an elderly but very lovable Jack Russell Terrier belonging to our German friend Waltraud.
How Waltraud came to own Boris is interesting. She had only ever had Scottish Deerhounds which are large very placid dogs. She heard about two Deerhounds which were needing to be re-homed due to their owners' ill health so she set off down to Wales to pick them up. Just as she was about to leave with the dogs the people asked, "You wouldn't like a Jack Russell too would you? He's been brought up with the Deerhounds and will miss them when they go." Needless to say Waltraud agreed.
Some time after they had settled in with Waltaud I phoned to ask how things were going and she said the Deerhounds were great and Boris was definitely improving. She only felt like killing him about twenty times a day now! When you have been used to very placid big dogs a young, lively Jack Russell was a trial.
Fast forward to now. Boris is getting on in years and is an only dog, having seen off the original two Deerhounds and the two which followed them. (Small dogs generally live longer than large ones). Waltraud couldn't love him any more than she does. He is still cute and very affectionate and is enjoying getting 100% of Waltraud's attention.
On a technical note, I love the way the 50mm f1.4 lens has rendered this image.
