Mexico Guanajuato 'vintage' 1994 photo of displays in the Mummy Museum - "Accidental Mummies"
This mummy head represents just 'part' of the naturally mummified remains at the Museo de las Momias in the UNESCO-designated town of Guanajuato. The bodies, reportedly exhumed in the mid-1800s as punishment for families' not paying their cemetary fees, are believed to have been preserved by the region's pH-balanced soil. A grisly and fascinating museum visit awaits. ;-)
