torn tax form
Taxing work is crazy. As Adam Smith and just about every other economist has noted, when you tax work you make it less profitable, so some work can no longer be done. It reduces the amount of work in the economy, thus making us all poorer. Not to mention the time wasted filling the things in, inevitable errors, the possibility of avoidance, etc., etc. I think Henry George had the right idea: get rid of all taxes and replace them all with a single rent on the value of bare land.
